More than 1,000 creators join the initiative, bringing regional creativity to Huawei wearables and reaching a global audience

Dubai, UAE: Huawei is strengthening its commitment to creative talent across the Middle East and Africa by expanding its Watch Face Designer community, with more than 1,000 creators now registered to design custom watch faces for Huawei wearable users worldwide. The growing initiative is creating new opportunities for regional artists and designers while giving consumers greater freedom to personalise their smartwatches.
The programme has attracted graphic designers, illustrators, UI/UX professionals, digital artists, creative freelancers, developers and design students from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, other GCC countries, Egypt and South Africa. By turning artistic concepts into wearable experiences, the initiative enables creators to showcase their work to a global audience through Huawei’s expanding digital ecosystem.
As the community continues to grow, Huawei wearable users are gaining access to an even wider range of watch faces that reflect different lifestyles, moods and cultural influences. Approved designs are published through the Huawei Watch Face Store on the HUAWEI Health app, which features more than 100,000 customisable and exclusive watch faces. The platform allows users to choose designs that match their personality while providing creators with an international stage to share artwork inspired by their communities and cultures.
William Hu, Managing Director of Huawei Consumer Business Group Cloud Service, Middle East and Africa, said the initiative reflects the remarkable creativity emerging from the region.
“The growing Huawei Watch Face Designer community reflects the depth and diversity of creative talent across the Middle East and Africa. By connecting regional creators with Huawei users worldwide, we are helping local ideas and artistic perspectives reach a global audience.”
He added that the expanding ecosystem also enhances the personalisation experience for Huawei users.
“At the same time, this growing ecosystem gives consumers more ways to make their Huawei watches their own, with watch faces that reflect their personality, style and mood. We want to continue welcoming designers, artists, developers and other creators with relevant skills to contribute their ideas and help shape the future of wearable personalisation.”
Among those embracing the initiative is independent designer and artist Mohammed Nasser, who joined the programme to transform his creative vision into wearable designs used by people around the world.
“I’ve always been passionate about design and finding new ways to express creativity,” Nasser said. “The Huawei Watch Face Designer initiative gave me an easy way to turn my ideas into designs that people can use every day. The onboarding process was simple and accessible, making it easy to get started, while the platform gives creators the opportunity to showcase their work to a global audience. It’s exciting to see wearable technology become a new canvas for creativity and to connect with users beyond my local market.”
Huawei is also investing in future creative talent through collaborations with universities and creative communities across the Middle East and Africa. Earlier this year, the company organised a Watch Face Designer workshop at Ajman University, where students explored Huawei’s design requirements, publishing process and the opportunities available through the programme.
Building on that momentum, Huawei plans to expand the initiative through additional university partnerships, workshops and creator engagement activities across the region. These efforts aim to encourage more designers, developers and digital artists to explore wearable design while strengthening the region’s growing creative ecosystem.
Creators with relevant design skills, including experience with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, can register for the Huawei Watch Face Designer initiative and receive guidance on Huawei’s design standards and submission process. Huawei wearable users can also explore the extensive collection of watch faces through the HUAWEI Health app and subscribe to the Watch Face VIP membership to access an expanded selection of premium designs and exclusive member benefits.
By connecting regional talent with millions of Huawei wearable users around the world, the Watch Face Designer initiative is transforming wearable technology into a platform for creativity, cultural expression and innovation. As the community continues to grow, Huawei is creating new opportunities for local creators to make a global impact while giving users more meaningful ways to personalise their everyday digital experiences.
