Saudi Company Sets Guinness World Record for World’s Tallest Freestanding Scaffold

Manar Al Omran’s 67.40-metre structure surpasses the previous record of 58.50 metres

Saudi Arabia’s Manar Al Omran (MAO) has achieved a Guinness World Records title for constructing the world’s tallest freestanding scaffold, reaching a height of 67.40 metres as part of Saudi National Day celebrations.

The structure surpasses the previous record of 58.50 metres and was designed to stand independently without external ties, anchors, guy wires or support from an adjacent building or structure. Its stability is achieved through its engineered base configuration, structural geometry and controlled assembly sequence.

The scaffold features a stepped pyramidal design that progressively narrows toward the top. Its base measures 43.47 metres by 43.47 metres, while the total constructed volume is approximately 46,000 cubic metres.

Three working platforms were installed at heights of 24, 48 and 66 metres. The overall measured height of the completed structure is 67.40 metres.

More than 35,172 metal components were used in the construction. The project was completed over six continuous days by a specialised team averaging around 80 workers, technicians and supervisors per day. The work accounted for approximately 4,800 man-hours and was carried out across two shifts under demanding site and weather conditions.

Focus on Safety

Safety was a central priority throughout the project. According to the project record, the erection was completed with zero injuries, supported by continuous supervision, controlled work procedures and compliance with occupational safety requirements.

An official Guinness World Records adjudicator monitored the record attempt and reviewed the required evidence and compliance criteria before the certificate was awarded.

The recognition coincides with Saudi National Day and highlights the engineering and technical capabilities behind the project, according to Manar Al Omran.

Founded in 1974, MAO has developed its expertise in scaffolding, formwork and construction solutions. The company said the record reflects its continued investment in engineering, manufacturing and technical capabilities, while supporting the broader objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 to strengthen local industry and develop national expertise.
