Catrion Wins Waste Reduction Award at ESGBusiness Awards 2026

The recognition highlights the company’s approach to waste prevention, resource efficiency and technology-driven operations

Catrion Catering Holding Company has won the Waste Reduction Award at the global ESGBusiness Awards 2026, recognising its integrated approach to preventing waste, improving resource efficiency and incorporating digital solutions and modern technologies into its operations.

The award reflects Catrion’s efforts to move from managing excess resources after waste occurs to preventing waste at its source. Its approach combines waste monitoring and data analysis with artificial intelligence technologies to support operational decision-making.

The company’s programme also includes redistributing surplus food, recycling, composting and improving planning, production and consumption practices.

Using Data to Reduce Waste

Catrion’s operational teams use data to better understand waste patterns and their sources. This information supports improvements in demand forecasting, purchasing, production planning and portion management.

The approach is designed to reduce waste while improving resource efficiency across the company’s operations.

Ziad Al-Harbi, Executive Director of Environment, Social and Governance at Catrion, said the recognition reflects the company’s approach to making waste reduction part of its daily operations rather than treating it as a standalone initiative.

He added that Catrion plans to expand its use of data and technology and explore further opportunities to reduce waste.

The award forms part of Catrion’s wider efforts to integrate environmental, social and governance practices into its business model and operations.

The company continues to develop its ESG framework in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards.

The ESGBusiness Awards recognise companies and organisations for achievements across environmental, social and governance areas, including initiatives that demonstrate the integration of sustainability into business models and operations.

With more than four decades of experience in hospitality and catering, Catrion has expanded its operations beyond airline catering to offer integrated solutions across hospitality, catering and projects. The company is also developing strategic partnerships and using its expertise to support national objectives and contribute to Saudi Arabia’s travel and hospitality sectors.
