Q & A with Adib Samara, General Manager, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Blacklane.

What makes Saudi Arabia fundamentally different from anywhere else you’ve operated?
Saudi Arabia is unlike any market I’ve worked in because transformation here isn’t incremental; it’s exponential. Saudi Vision 2030 has created a unified sense of purpose across government, business, and society, which you can feel in every conversation. The pace of change and the scale of investment are extraordinary, but what truly differentiates the Kingdom from other markets is its ambition to set new global standards and challenge the status quo.
For a company like Blacklane, that means we get to help define what premium mobility looks like, combining sustainability, hospitality, and technology in a way that’s uniquely Saudi.
Where is the biggest real opportunity in Saudi mobility that global players still underestimate?
The most underestimated opportunity is integration, connecting air and ground travel with hospitality to deliver a seamless, data‑driven experience. Mobility is often traditionally seen as a point‑to‑point service, but Saudi Arabia is making it an integral part of the country’s ecosystem.
Our partnerships with businesses such as Riyadh Air, The Helicopter Company, Altanfeethi, Lucid, and EVIQ illustrate the scale of what’s possible when flight, fleet, frictionless experiences and charging infrastructure are designed with the guest journey in mind. The companies that will win are those focused on the highest standards of experience design, not just logistics.
How do you ensure a global brand promise is delivered flawlessly at a local, human level?
Luxury today is about trust and consistency, not excess. At Blacklane, we combine global service standards with cultural fluency: chauffeurs who truly embody etiquette and discretion, localized in‑ride touches, and technology that supports personalised comfort without friction.
Our Chauffeur Academy in Saudi upskills our chauffeur partners with both technical and cultural competencies, ensuring every interaction reflects international quality while honouring the warmth and hospitality Saudi Arabia is renowned for.
What separates a long‑term strategic partnership from a logo‑driven collaboration?
True partnerships are built on shared values and joint creation, not co‑branding. Our collaborations here in the Kingdom extend to infrastructure development, co‑training programmes, and integrated guest experiences from air to ground.
When both sides commit to innovation and service excellence that benefits the guest, it becomes an ecosystem partnership, one that lasts far beyond a press release or campaign window. Together with our partners, we share the same values to deliver first-class experiences, and this guest commitment is essential to all we do.

How do you see technology enhancing decision‑making and customer experience without diluting the premium feel?
Technology should elevate human hospitality, not replace it. Blacklane believes that AI and data analytics power the invisible elements—optimising routing, anticipating demand, tracking performance and monitoring quality in real-time, which allows our chauffeur partners to focus entirely on the guest.
We’re integrating charging operations, scheduling systems, and service data to make every decision smarter and smoother while keeping the human interaction effortless and personal. Premium isn’t about less tech; it’s about tech working so seamlessly that you don’t notice it.
What qualities do you prioritise when building high‑performance teams in a market evolving this fast?
I look for drive, adaptability, and empathy. Saudi Arabia’s transformation requires people who are comfortable with change yet grounded in purpose. Across our business, we recruit and develop talent who understand that excellence is a mindset—professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and curiosity to learn.
In our Chauffeur Academy, we foster these qualities with our chauffeur partners locally, creating a pipeline of Saudi professionals who embody both Blacklane’s global standards and the Kingdom’s spirit of progress.

Five years from now, what would success in Saudi Arabia look like for you personally, and what mindset should leaders adopt today to be relevant in that future?
Five years from now, success will mean that Blacklane is woven into the fabric of Saudi life—recognized as a standard‑bearer for sustainable, luxury mobility and a proud supporter of the Kingdom’s efforts for economic diversification and growth, aligned with the goals of Vision 2030.
For me, personally, it’s about seeing our local teams thriving, our partnerships driving innovation, and growing our electric fleet to make sustainable luxury the norm. Leaders who want to be relevant in that future must pair consistency with curiosity: stay true to your values but keep evolving. Saudi Vision 2030 provides a great opportunity for those who can think ambitiously while acting collaboratively and always putting people first.
