Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – September 2026: The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Jeddah hosted a reception to mark the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, in the presence of His Highness Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, Governor of Jeddah.
Upon his arrival, the Governor was received by Yang Yi, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Jeddah, alongside members and officials of the consulate.
The reception was also attended by Fareed bin Saad Al-Shehri, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Branch in the Makkah Region, as well as members of the diplomatic corps, consuls general and representatives from the business, media and cultural sectors.
Highlighting Saudi-China Relations
In his remarks, Yang Yi expressed his appreciation to the Governor of Jeddah and the guests in attendance. He also congratulated the Saudi people on the occasion of the 96th Saudi National Day.
The Consul General highlighted the historical ties and comprehensive strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and China, noting continued growth in bilateral relations as the two countries mark the 10th anniversary of the partnership’s establishment.
He also pointed to growing economic and technological cooperation between Riyadh and Beijing, highlighting the alignment between China’s Belt and Road Initiative and Saudi Vision 2030.
Cooperation Across Key Sectors
According to Yang Yi, bilateral cooperation has expanded across areas including artificial intelligence, new energy and infrastructure, alongside cultural and educational exchanges.
The Consul General reaffirmed China’s commitment to continued cooperation with Saudi Arabia in support of regional security and stability, while developing new areas of partnership between the two countries.
The reception provided an opportunity for officials and representatives from both countries to gather and highlight the continuing development of Saudi-China relations.
