Hajj 2026 visas will start issuing from February 8

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah will begin issuing visas for the 2026 Hajj season from February 8, according to official announcements reported by local and international media.

The move comes months ahead of the annual pilgrimage, reflecting an earlier timeline aimed at improving planning and services for millions of pilgrims expected to travel to the Kingdom.

Officials say the early start is part of a broader effort to reduce pressure during peak periods and ensure smoother arrangements across accommodation, transport and services at the holy sites.

According to reports, contracts for services at the holy sites have already been finalised, along with accommodation arrangements in Makkah for pilgrims arriving from abroad. Authorities have also allocated hundreds of camps at the holy sites as part of the preparations.

The ministry said the early visa issuance is intended to give countries, travel operators and pilgrims more time to complete procedures and finalise travel plans. The approach is also linked to Saudi Arabia’s long-term efforts to improve the Hajj experience under its development plans.

In some countries, pilgrims are expected to submit applications through the official Nusuk platform, which handles bookings, documentation and package selection for international pilgrims.

The Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam, takes place annually in the holy city of Makkah and surrounding sites. Millions of Muslims from around the world travel to Saudi Arabia each year to perform the rituals over several days.

By starting the visa process in early February, Saudi authorities aim to spread out preparations over a longer period, allowing for better coordination with participating countries and service providers.

The 2026 Hajj season is expected to take place around mid-year, depending on the Islamic lunar calendar.
