Saudi Arabia Launches ‘10 Billion Steps’ Initiative to Inspire a Healthier Nation

Saudi Arabia has launched a nationwide movement encouraging people to take a simple step towards better health. The Saudi Sports for All Federation (SFA) has introduced the 10 Billion Steps Initiative, a community campaign that aims to bring people across the Kingdom together to collectively achieve 10 billion steps by the end of 2026.

Running from July to December 2026, the initiative is part of the federation’s efforts to promote healthier lifestyles while supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. Under the slogan “Don’t Count Your Steps. Let Them Count.”, the campaign encourages people to make walking and daily movement a regular habit rather than viewing exercise as something that only happens in gyms or sports facilities.

The initiative is accessible through the Sports for All mobile application, where participants can track their daily steps, monitor their progress, and join a variety of challenges and activities. Every step recorded contributes to the national goal, whether it is taken during a morning walk, at work, in school, while shopping, or at home.

Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, President of the Saudi Sports for All Federation, described the initiative as an invitation for every individual in the Kingdom to become part of a shared national mission. He said that building a healthier and more vibrant society begins with simple daily actions, adding that the campaign is designed to make physical activity more accessible while turning everyday movement into a lasting habit that improves quality of life.

Shaima Saleh Al-Husseini, Managing Director of the federation, said the initiative demonstrates that physical activity is already part of people’s everyday lives, often more than they realise. She noted that every step taken at work, school, home, or elsewhere contributes towards a collective national achievement while helping people develop healthier and more sustainable habits.

Beyond encouraging individual fitness, the campaign seeks to reshape how people think about exercise. Instead of requiring dedicated time, specialised equipment, or athletic ability, the initiative presents walking as a simple activity that anyone can incorporate into their daily routine.

The federation has also built the initiative around digital engagement, partnerships, and community participation to ensure it reaches people of all ages and backgrounds. By combining technology with a shared national target, Saudi Arabia hopes to inspire long-term behavioural change while strengthening community participation in physical activity.

The 10 Billion Steps Initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s growing investment in public health and community sports. It also reinforces the country’s broader Vision 2030 ambition of creating a healthier, more active society where small daily actions can collectively create a lasting national impact.
