New external controllers combine camera control and high-quality monitoring to simplify video production for solo operators, small crews and professional production environments.
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – September 9, 2026: Sony has announced two new external controllers, the RM-DP7 and RM-DP5, designed to bring camera control and monitoring together in a single device for video production. The new controllers are part of Sony’s Cinema Line ecosystem and, at launch, will be compatible with the FX5, FX3, FX2 and FX30 cameras.
Designed with increasingly compact production workflows in mind, the RM-DP7 and RM-DP5 allow operators to monitor footage and adjust key camera settings from a position away from the camera. The approach is particularly suited to solo filmmakers and small production teams, where flexibility and quick access to controls can make a significant difference on set.
Both controllers feature Sony’s “BIG6” home screen, providing access to key shooting functions from the monitor side. Depending on the connected camera and lens, users can adjust focus with compatible autofocus lenses and control zoom with compatible power zoom lenses, alongside exposure and other important settings.
The controllers combine touch operation with physical controls, including a control knob, multi-function dials and assignable buttons. This provides operators with multiple ways to make quick adjustments during shooting without having to return to the camera, helping them stay focused on composition, framing and direction.

Designed for Accurate Monitoring
Sony has also placed a strong emphasis on colour accuracy. Both models use professional video monitor-grade colour calibration technology, with each unit individually calibrated at the factory. The controllers continuously compensate for chromaticity and colour-temperature drift during operation, helping maintain consistent colour reproduction throughout a shoot.
A high-brightness Full HD panel delivers up to 2,000 cd/m², making the displays suitable for a range of shooting conditions. The controllers also support six presets and up to 16 LUTs, allowing filmmakers to monitor footage with a look closer to their intended final result and supporting the workflow from production through post-production.

Wired and Wireless Connectivity
The RM-DP7 and RM-DP5 are designed to accommodate different camera and rig configurations. Both controllers support HDMI input and output for stable wired monitoring, while wireless connectivity is also possible when paired with select compatible third-party transmitters.
The RM-DP7 further expands connectivity options with support for 12G-SDI and bidirectional conversion between SDI and HDMI. This makes it particularly suitable for more advanced professional production setups where SDI connectivity is required.

Built for Production Environments
Sony has designed both controllers with durability in mind. Their rigid aluminium bodies are built for production environments, while the design takes dust and moisture resistance into consideration for outdoor shooting.
Power flexibility is another key feature. The RM-DP7 and RM-DP5 can be powered using BP-U series batteries, USB Power Delivery (USB PD), or DC input, giving production teams multiple options for powering the controllers during extended shoots.
With camera control, monitoring, flexible connectivity and professional-grade display capabilities combined in compact units, the RM-DP7 and RM-DP5 are aimed at making Cinema Line workflows more efficient across a wide range of productions.
Availability and pricing will vary by market. Sony recommends checking with an official local Sony retailer for country-specific information.
