Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 30 June 2026: Opella has marked its first year as an independent consumer healthcare company, celebrating a year of continued growth, expanded local investment, and meaningful progress in advancing self-care across Saudi Arabia.
Formerly part of Sanofi, Opella became a standalone global consumer healthcare company in 2025. Since then, the company has continued to strengthen its presence in the Kingdom by combining global expertise with an expanding local footprint to support Saudi Arabia’s evolving healthcare landscape and the ambitions of Vision 2030.
Over the past year, Opella delivered nearly 10 million moments of relief to consumers across Saudi Arabia through its portfolio of trusted self-care brands. Today, its products are available in more than 4,600 pharmacies across the Kingdom, as well as through authorized e-commerce pharmacy platforms, making science-backed healthcare solutions more accessible for consumers managing everyday health needs.
The milestone comes at a time when Saudi Arabia is placing greater emphasis on preventive healthcare, health literacy, and patient empowerment as part of its healthcare transformation agenda. Self-care continues to play an increasingly important role by enabling people to manage common health conditions, make informed healthcare decisions, and contribute to improved health outcomes while helping reduce pressure on healthcare systems.
During its first year as an independent company, Opella expanded its operations in both Riyadh and Jeddah while strengthening investments in local partnerships and capabilities. The company also broadened its collaboration with local manufacturing partners to enhance supply resilience and ensure trusted healthcare products remain readily available to consumers across the Kingdom.
Innovation remained a key focus throughout the year. Over the past 12 months, Opella introduced five new products across the allergy, cough, and digestive wellness categories, with additional product launches planned as part of its continued commitment to expanding access to self-care solutions in Saudi Arabia.
Commenting on the milestone, Feirouz Ellouze, General Manager for Africa, Middle East, and Turkey (AMET) at Opella, said:
“Our first year as an independent company marks an important milestone for Opella and reflects the momentum we are building across the Africa, Middle East, and Turkey region. As healthcare systems continue to evolve, we see growing opportunities in key markets like Saudi Arabia to expand access to everyday health solutions, support greater patient autonomy, and contribute to more sustainable healthcare systems through responsible self-care.”
Hossam Abo Ouf, Country Head for Saudi Arabia and the UAE at Opella, added:
“Saudi Arabia is undergoing a significant healthcare transformation, with increasing emphasis on prevention, health literacy, and patient empowerment. At Opella, we believe self-care has an important role to play in supporting these ambitions. By expanding access to trusted, science-backed health solutions and working closely with healthcare professionals, pharmacists, and partners across the ecosystem, we are helping people take a more proactive role in managing their health and wellbeing.”
Beyond expanding access to healthcare products, Opella continued to promote health literacy and strengthen engagement with healthcare professionals, particularly pharmacists, who remain among the most trusted and accessible sources of health advice for consumers. Through these initiatives, the company supports better self-care guidance and improved patient outcomes while contributing to Saudi Arabia’s priorities around primary healthcare, prevention, and patient empowerment.
The company also maintained its commitment to community engagement through its annual Purpose Day volunteering initiatives. In Saudi Arabia, Opella employees partnered with licensed charitable organizations to support families and encourage healthy habits among children, reflecting the company’s broader commitment to creating positive social impact alongside sustainable business growth.
On the global stage, Opella completed its first year of independence by maintaining its position as the world’s third largest company in the over-the-counter (OTC) and vitamins, minerals, and supplements (VMS) categories. The company also advanced its sustainability and innovation agenda by achieving global B Corp certification and securing validation of its net zero emissions targets through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Looking ahead, Opella plans to continue investing in innovation, expanding local partnerships, and improving access to trusted self-care solutions. Through these efforts, the company aims to support Saudi Arabia’s vision of building a healthier, more informed, and more empowered society while contributing to the long-term transformation of the Kingdom’s healthcare ecosystem.
