Saudi Arabia has added another landmark to its rapidly growing tourism portfolio with the inauguration of the Kingdom’s largest dancing fountain at Al Wadi Resort in the Aseer region. The spectacular attraction is designed to become a major tourism icon, reflecting the country’s continued investment in world class leisure destinations under Vision 2030.
The newly opened fountain rises to an impressive height of 120 metres, making it the tallest fountain in Saudi Arabia, the second tallest in the Middle East, and the third tallest in the world. Built at a cost exceeding SAR16 million, the project uses more than seven million litres of water to create a breathtaking display of synchronized water jets, music, and lighting that transforms the night sky into a vibrant visual spectacle.
Located within the expansive Al Wadi Resort, the fountain serves as the centrepiece of a 300,000 square metre tourism development. The integrated destination features luxury accommodation, landscaped gardens, entertainment spaces, restaurants, and recreational facilities, creating a complete visitor experience for families and tourists. The development is expected to strengthen Aseer’s position as one of Saudi Arabia’s leading domestic tourism destinations while attracting visitors from across the Gulf and beyond.
The dancing fountain combines advanced engineering with artistic performance. High powered pumps send towering streams of water into the air while an intelligent control system synchronizes every movement with carefully selected music and dynamic lighting effects. The result is an immersive show that changes throughout the evening, offering visitors a different visual experience with every performance.
The launch also highlights the growing role of private sector investment in Saudi Arabia’s tourism transformation. As the Kingdom diversifies its economy, projects such as Al Wadi Resort demonstrate how entertainment, hospitality, and natural landscapes are being combined to create destinations that encourage longer visitor stays and increased tourism spending. While the new attraction sets a national record for dancing fountains, it is important to distinguish it from Jeddah’s famous King Fahd Fountain, which remains the world’s tallest fountain overall with water jets reaching more than 300 metres.
