National Center for Falcons Auction 2026 Opens for Locally Caught Falcons

Riyadh: The National Center for Falcons Auction 2026 will begin receiving locally caught falcons tomorrow, Thursday, as Saudi Arabia’s annual falcon trapping season gets underway. The auction will run until November 30.

Field teams from the National Center for Falcons will operate across the Kingdom throughout the season to receive falconers and their birds and facilitate their arrival at the auction venue in Malham, north of Riyadh. The center will provide transportation and accommodation, document sales, and present the falcons through a competitive live auction.

Waleed Al-Tawil, official spokesperson for the National Center for Falcons, said the field teams have completed preparations to receive falconers across the Kingdom at the start of the season.

He said the center accompanies the falconer throughout the process, from receiving the bird at the trapping site and transporting it to the auction venue to displaying, selling and documenting the transaction, as part of an organized system designed to safeguard the rights of participants.

The auction aims to organize the sale of locally caught falcons and support falconers, while contributing to the preservation and sustainability of Saudi Arabia’s falconry heritage. The center also continues to develop its services to strengthen the practice and support its transmission to future generations.

The auction will only receive young migrating Peregrine Falcons caught within Saudi Arabia. Adult Peregrine Falcons and Saker Falcons will not be accepted, in support of their sustainability and the preservation of their populations.

The reception of locally caught falcons will continue for two months. Auction nights will also be broadcast through television channels and social media platforms, allowing falconers and enthusiasts to follow the proceedings.
