Consulate General of India in Jeddah Showcases India’s Wellness Traditions and Culinary Heritage

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – The Consulate General of India in Jeddah hosted “India: Wellness & Flavours” at Park Hyatt Jeddah on July 12, bringing together Saudi dignitaries, diplomats, business leaders, and members of the Indian diaspora for an evening celebrating India’s rich traditions of wellness, healthy living, and culinary excellence.

The event welcomed senior representatives from several Saudi government entities, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Media, and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, alongside members of the diplomatic corps, the business community, friends of India, and the Indian community in Jeddah.

Addressing the gathering, H.E. Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri, Consul General of India in Jeddah, highlighted the importance of healthy living, preventive healthcare, and overall well-being across all age groups. He noted that the event reflected India’s enduring traditions of holistic wellness while showcasing the country’s diverse culinary heritage and agricultural strengths.

The Consul General also emphasized the role of such initiatives in strengthening cultural ties and expanding cooperation between India and Saudi Arabia, particularly in the areas of agriculture, food trade, and people-to-people engagement.

A major highlight of the evening was the Indian Mango Trail, which offered guests an opportunity to explore some of India’s finest mango varieties, including Chausa, Dussehri, Langda, and other premium selections. The showcase celebrated India’s globally renowned horticultural heritage while introducing visitors to the distinctive flavours and characteristics of each variety.

Complementing the fresh fruit display was an extensive selection of mango-inspired culinary creations. Guests sampled a range of delicacies, including mango lassi, mango falooda, mango salads, mango pickle, tarts, pastries, and mango kunafa, reflecting the versatility of India’s favourite summer fruit across both traditional and contemporary cuisine.

By combining wellness, nutrition, and gastronomy in a single cultural experience, “India: Wellness & Flavours” highlighted India’s holistic approach to healthy living while creating new opportunities to deepen cultural understanding and agricultural collaboration with Saudi Arabia. The event also reinforced the growing partnership between the two countries through shared experiences that celebrate heritage, innovation, and community.
