Jaguar TCS Racing Prepares for Historic GEN4 Era as Formula E Announces Record-Breaking 2026–27 Season Starting in Jeddah

Jaguar TCS Racing is preparing for a landmark new chapter in electric motorsport after Formula E and the FIA unveiled the provisional calendar for the 2026–27 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The upcoming season will introduce the highly anticipated GEN4 era, featuring the most powerful Formula E race car ever built, an expanded 21-race calendar across 13 global cities, and a season-opening double-header in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The British team enters the new era following its long-term commitment to Formula E and will compete against some of the world’s leading automotive manufacturers as the championship begins its most ambitious season to date. The opening races at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit on 18 and 19 December 2026 will mark the first official competitive appearance of the all-new GEN4 machinery under race conditions.

Formula E’s largest-ever calendar represents a significant milestone for the championship. Alongside established destinations such as Jeddah, Mexico City, Monaco, Berlin, Shanghai and Tokyo, the series will also introduce new venues including The Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, the renowned Zandvoort Circuit in the Netherlands, and Brands Hatch in the United Kingdom, which will become the new home of the London E-Prix.

For Jaguar TCS Racing, the GEN4 era presents an exciting opportunity to continue pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle technology and innovation. Since joining Formula E in 2016, Jaguar has established itself as one of the championship’s most successful manufacturers, securing more than 20 race victories, over 50 podium finishes, and the Formula E Teams’ World Championship and Manufacturers’ Trophy in 2024.

The centrepiece of the new era is the revolutionary GEN4 race car. Designed to deliver unprecedented levels of performance, the next-generation machine produces up to 600kW of power, equivalent to more than 815 horsepower, while accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.8 seconds. Active all-wheel drive will be available throughout every phase of the race, providing drivers with greater performance and creating even more intense wheel-to-wheel battles.

The new car also reinforces Formula E’s position as a leader in sustainable motorsport. Built using 100 percent recyclable or reusable materials, GEN4 has been developed with environmental responsibility at its core. From battery systems and tyres to bodywork and supply chain sourcing, every aspect of the vehicle has been engineered to reduce environmental impact while maintaining world-class performance.

Adding another layer of excitement to the championship is the introduction of E-Prix Unleashed, a new race format that will debut during double-header weekends. While the traditional Formula E race will continue to focus on energy management and strategic decision-making, E-Prix Unleashed will showcase the unrestricted speed and raw performance of the GEN4 car in a shorter, more aggressive racing format.

The new format is expected to provide fans with an exciting combination of tactical racing and pure speed throughout each race weekend, creating a fresh viewing experience while highlighting the full capabilities of Formula E’s latest technology.

The championship’s competitive field will also expand with the arrival of Opel. The historic German manufacturer joins an impressive lineup that already includes Jaguar, Porsche, Nissan, Citroën, Mahindra and Lola Cars. Together, these manufacturers continue to use Formula E as a development platform for advanced electric vehicle technologies that can be transferred directly to future road cars.

Sustainability remains a key focus throughout the 2026–27 season. Formula E has structured the calendar around regional clusters across the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific to reduce freight transportation requirements and lower overall carbon emissions associated with the global championship.

The season opener in Jeddah will set the tone for what promises to be the most significant campaign in Formula E history. Following the Saudi Arabian double-header, the championship will travel through North and South America before moving to Asia and Europe, eventually concluding with a double-header finale in Tokyo on 24 and 25 July 2027.

For Jaguar TCS Racing, the upcoming season represents more than a new championship campaign. It marks the beginning of a new technological era that will continue to drive innovation, accelerate electric mobility development, and showcase the future of sustainable high-performance motorsport on a global stage.
