Uber to Acquire Blacklane as It Expands into Premium Travel

Uber has announced plans to acquire Blacklane, a global chauffeur service operating in more than 500 cities worldwide. The move highlights Uber’s growing focus on premium and executive travel.

Blacklane, founded in Berlin in 2011, is known for offering high-quality chauffeur services for business and luxury travelers. The platform connects users with professional drivers through its app and website, providing services such as airport transfers, city rides, and hourly bookings.

The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. Once finalized, the deal will combine Blacklane’s luxury service expertise with Uber’s global technology and scale.

Uber has been expanding its premium offerings in recent years, with services like pre-booked rides gaining strong demand. The company sees executive travel as one of its fastest-growing segments, driven by users looking for more reliable and high-end transport options.

According to Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, the goal is to offer a wider range of travel options, from everyday rides to luxury experiences. Blacklane’s founder Jens Wohltorf also described the deal as a major step in bringing premium mobility services to more global markets.

The partnership is expected to strengthen Uber’s position in the high-end travel segment while helping Blacklane reach new customers worldwide. Together, the two companies aim to deliver a more seamless and elevated travel experience.

As the mobility industry continues to evolve, this move reflects a clear shift toward more personalized and premium transport services, especially in major cities and business hubs.
