Heading Brushstrokes of Identity: The World of Hebaism

You’ve created your own artistic style, “Hebaism.” How would you define it in your own words?

I can say it’s distinctive and personal in an artistic way. It shows cubism with a Saudi touch that also tells a story and documents my journey in life.

You’re both a dentist and an artist. How do you balance two such different worlds, and does one inspire the other?

Dentistry is also a form of art that requires meticulous artistic hands, so I can say both complete each other.

Many of your works use elements from Saudi and Arab traditions — scarves, coffee cups, attire. Why is it important for you to embed culture in your art?

Its my number one priority to show my heritage and embed it in my paintings in my style of art.

What’s been your most memorable moment as an artist so far – an exhibition, a reaction, or a breakthrough?

Having HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman admiring my work while I was on a project in Riyadh is the highlight of my
journey.

As part of Saudi Arabia’s creative boom under Vision 2030, how do you see your role in putting Saudi art on the
global stage?

I can see myself being in Saudi art history from now on, with such great opportunities and focus on Saudi talents I believe Saudi Arabia will be the art hub for the world by 2030.
