The Voice of Hind Rajab, a film directed by Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania, has been nominated for an Academy Award in the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th Oscars.
The nomination was announced this week by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The film tells the story of Hind Rajab Hamada, a young Palestinian girl who was killed during fighting in Gaza. It blends documentary and dramatized scenes, drawing on real recordings of her final calls for help to rescue teams.
The movie was supported in part by Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Film Foundation, which helped fund the production through its Red Sea Fund. The foundation said the nomination reflects the “strength of the creative vision behind the film and the commitment of the team who brought it to life.”

The Voice of Hind Rajab premiered at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival in September 2025, where it received a strong response from audiences and won the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize.
The film’s nomination also highlights its international reach after earlier recognition in the awards season. It was nominated for a Golden Globe in the Best Non-English Language Film category and longlisted for the BAFTA Film Awards in two categories.
Director Kaouther Ben Hania has now been nominated for an Oscar three times. Her previous films include The Man Who Sold His Skin and Four Daughters.
The 98th Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled for March 15, 2026, in Los Angeles, where the winners will be announced.
